Witness Location and Interview in Litigation Matters
In a mass litigation matter in the northeastern US, The Intelligence Group managed a witness pool consisting of several hundred witnesses. Our personnel identified potential witnesses from case documents and other intelligence techniques, conducted investigation to provide present-day locations for the witnesses, and conducted interviews of cooperating witnesses in-person. Testimony from these witnesses provided critical evidence to our client, making a significant difference in the outcome of this matter. The Intelligence Group is often asked to investigate the factual basis of claims prior to litigation, or factually reconstruct events in order for counsel to develop an effective litigation strategy.
In numerous toxic tort and environmental matters, we have been asked to identify, locate and interview various witnesses such as former employees of an organization, in regard to physical conditions and other issues at their prior workplace. Often, these investigations have been conducted decades after the occurrence of a particular issue or event, requiring the ability to skip trace addresses over time and conduct various levels of confirmation inquiry. Interview of knowledgeable individuals is often the only way to document historical events, issues or routine day-do-day operations conducted in past eras. The Intelligence Group has an excellent track record with the successful location and interview of such historical witnesses.
