IP Theft: Unfair Competition
Our client, a manufacturer of devices in a federally-regulated industry, expends significant resources in the R&D of new products. Soon after several of their R&D engineers had resigned from the firm, they emerged in a new start-up business competing with their former employer. In less than one year's time, they had gotten a competing device through regulatory approvals and were launched in the marketplace. Given the level of effort typically necessary to develop a new device and gain regulatory approval, our client was more than suspicious. Despite the passage of time, The Intelligence Group was able to develop evidence of the removal of IP at the time of their departure, including confidential documents downloaded from company servers and confidential correspondence copied to USB devices prior to their departure.
