The Intelligence Group has assisted clients in numerous competitive intelligence matters, from monitoring of industry trends and competitors to investigations regarding operations, capabilities and new initiatives.

• In one such matter, we conducted in-depth research and field investigation regarding the product life cycle practices of various manufactured goods competitors. With the re-use and recycling of product cartridges being leveraged by competitors claiming “green” practices as a marketing strategy, our client sought to vet the actual operating practices in the marketplace. The Intelligence Group determined very inconsistent practices existed in the industry as a whole, and even within various competitors’ own operations.

• In another matter, we assisted an industry business association in opposing proposed legislation regarding Right-to-Know disclosures. By obtaining public records regarding chemical usage under the Right-to-Know statute, we were successful in reverse-engineering various manufacturing processes from public data. Estimates of raw material usage, manufacturing throughput, capacities, and waste streams were successfully made.
